Dr. Jason Vollen PhD AIA is the Global Lead for Research, Development, and Innovation at AECOM and the COO of Fresh Air Building Systems (FABS). Dr. Vollen collaborates with Yale CEA on the AMPS framework in the areas of Biotic, Air, and Energy research. Jason has been collaborating with Yale CEA researchers since 2007 on the systems development, prototyping, testing and implementation of green infrastructure into building test sites.

In his multiple roles at AECOM, Jason focuses on leveraging the intersection of energy, finance, and policy to deliver high performance and sustainable design solutions that reduce both capital and operating costs to maximize value for clients and to deliver solutions that are net zero energy capable. As a high performance design specialist, his approach takes advantage of the first principles of building physics in order to provide lower energy intensities while improving occupant comfort.

Jason’s work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and the American Institute of Architects. He has won numerous awards for next generation building systems design and has multiple building system patents under review.
